| Great Bible, Few Shortfalls Feb 12, 2007 |
I bought the NASB translation of the Life Application Study Bible along with the NIV Study Bible (Copyright 2002) by Zondervan and together they are wonderful. It is nice to have the more authentic, word-for-word NASB and the thought-for-thought NIV.
The personality profiles of the Life Application give a summary of their lives and the key points to learn from each of the important biblical characters, and there is an abundance of useful, easily understood charts and maps. The introductions to each of the books are nice, and the Harmony of the Gospels system makes sense as a way to refer back and forth between gospels.
On the downside, the concordance is lacking when compared to the much more extensive one found in the NIV Study Bible. Also, I don't like how every single verse is indented and starts on its own line instead of the paragraph form found in the NIV. The cross-reference system in the NIV is also better. Personally I prefer the study notes in the NIV because I am more interested in the history, but the application-oriented ones in the Life Application are nice too, although sometimes a little obvious.
If you had to choose one, I would definitely go with the NIV Study Bible because it is so commonly used in sermons and accepted by most churches. Life Application is a very worthy Bible though too. | | | Easy does it! Feb 12, 2007 |
The speed of ordering and receiving my order was outstanding. this site is number one on my list, I recommend them highly. | | | Life Application Study Bible, NASB Feb 8, 2007 |
I am in my 60's and found this Bible to be an outstanding version of the Bible. I use it for Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). The explanations, historical data, and clear print help me to understand the Bible and its meaning better than I ever have before in my life. This Bible gives me a clearer Spiritual understanding of Christ. I would recommend this Bible to a new adult Christian just starting to learn or a person who is a biblical scholar. | | | Life Application Study Bible Jan 15, 2007 |
My father already had one and my mom loved it. They really like the layout and study notes. She says it really helps with her young couples Sunday School class and the 'in-depth' questions she gets each week. | | | Great Detail! Jul 2, 2006 |
I am fairly new to bible study. This is a huge help! I love the detail, character sketches, life application, etc. Very nice! Good, accurate translation. | | Write your own review about NASB Life Application Study Bible-HC
