| The Grief of the Holy Spirit Aug 17, 2006 |
This version gets no star, but that was not a permitted option. I was shocked to see so many crucial verses missing or mutilated in the NASB. For example, 1 John 5:7 is completely deleted. Verse 8 is halved as a new 7 and diluted 8. The original verses 400 years old speak of the Holy Trinity and to see them deleted grieves my heart. A major prophetic verse: Zechariah 13:6, has said for the last 400 years "...What are these wounds on my hands?" The NASB says "What are these wounds between your arms?" The Lord's prayer in Luke 11 eliminates heaven, the kingdom of God and deliverance from evil. These are just a few examples of the errors that have mysteriously surfaced in the new versions as of 1960. I am keeping it just to demonstrate the boldness of its errors to a genuine believer in Jesus Christ as Lord, Savior and God. The bible was translated 400 years ago in English by William Tyndale and others like him who were martyred for giving us God's word in English. Since 1960, new versions make a mockery of what Tyndale and his fellow martyrs did to give us the precious gift of reading the perfect Word of God. | | | The portable Bible with presence! I have several compact reference Bibles (different transaltions, as well as others from Zondervan, and other publishers), but this one just surpasses them all.
First, the NASB (as most websites agree) is more literal than the other transaltions out there. The design of this Bible will attract many readers. The book introductions are a nice touch, and they are not found in most compact ref. Bibles. Even the gold writing on the spine of the Bible is superior to others. The black ink, as well as the red, is nice and dark---most other Bibles I've seen and own, use a lighter print. The print size is just right---and it's easy on the eyes. The center-column refs. are very detailed. I have always enjoyed the button snap, it does protect the pages.
I'm really enjoying it.

Exactly what I wanted. Very good quality, small, and a good concordance in the back for a compact Bible. | | | Perfect! Aug 19, 2004 |
I absolutely love this bible. I bought a pocket bible before this, but that one was way too hard to read. This one's a perfect compromise of portability and readability. I looked through all the compact bibles that are out there, and I think I made the wisest choice with this one.
The intro to each book is very informational yet compact, and the text is extremely easy to read, even for long periods of time. The colored maps in the back are awesome and although the concordance isn't very extensive, it's a great plus.
The "plastic" character of the cover mentioned by other reviewers has never bothered me. If you really want high quality stuff, go ahead get the leather bound edition. But this one is just fine. | | | Wonderful Little Bible Jun 25, 2004 |
The NASB translation is among the best. It is very accurate, and though some have said it is not as readable as other translations--I disagree. The NASB is more formal than many modern translations, but I find it has a wonderful, fluid cadence when reading it. This compact Bible has dark, readable type. The short introductions to each Bible book is nice, the ribbon marker is handy, and the Bible itself is about the size of a mass market paperback book, which makes it very portable. This is a wonderful little Bible that I believe you will enjoy having and reading. | | Write your own review about NASB Compact Reference/Button Flap-Black Bond
