Additional Information No longer do kids have to wrestle with exhaustive concordances which are heavy and awkward. This concordance for kids is easy to handle and provides just the right amount of information. Bible study becomes an adventure as kids learn to pronounce Bible words, discover brief definitions, and explore key passages where that word appears. Selected maps are included as well. The Scripture passages come mostly from the KJV supplemented in places by the NIV.

I can see this book being quite good for some kids, perhaps more as a Bible dictionary than a concordance. Unfortunately it did not work out for us. My 6-year-old daughter was really excited about getting it because we're constantly looking up words when we read through the Bible and she wanted to be able to look them up on her own. So about the same time I bought a Bible dictionary, a regular dictionary, a thesaurus and this concordance after checking out a lot of books online. She loves them all but unfortunately the concordance was disappointing because so many words she has tried to look up just aren't there at all. When your kid's just learning to look things up alphabetically, it's pretty frustrating to go through all that work and not find the word. The first one she tried to look up was Samson and he wasn't even listed... while some far more obscure names ARE listed (like Gemariah and Quirinius). She's a little young to learn to use Strong's (!) so I'm still hoping to find some kind of replacement. | | | Could have been better May 4, 2008 |
I was delighted to finally find a concordance for my elementary age children. I love the idea of being able to teach my children how to search the Scriptures for themselves for GOD's truths. It is easy to use and understand. In addition to the places listed where the word occurs, there is also a short definition of the word which is helpful. The print is big enough, and I like how they also included the phonetic spelling. I do not, however, like how much wasted space there is. Each six inch wide page has a two inch wide gray colored column going down the side. That column offers no information; it is just wasted. Occasionally, there may be a small B&W; illustration in that area. There are six maps in the back of the book. Keep in mind that this book is for children and is NOT a complete concordance. There are just a sampling of the occurences of each word. | | | Cool concordance Apr 6, 2007 |
I wanted my kids to be able to look verses on their own and this concordance is really easy for them to use. They have had fun just going through it and finding facts. It is the perfect first concordance and exactly what I was looking for. | | Write your own review about The Holman Bible Concordance for Kids: A Personal Guide Through the Word for Kids Who Want Answers (Holman Reference)
