In 1958 Herbert Lockyer originally published "All the Men of the Bible" and it has been in print ever since. More than just a listing of the men of the Bible, it starts with a history of Bible name, followed by an alphabetical listing of all the men named in the Bible, then a listing of the unnamed men of the Bible, and finally with an examination of Jesus Christ. Some listings are just that - a listing of the name, the meaning of the name, and where it is located in the Bible. Where more is known about the person it is included in the listing. For example, the listing for Hezekiah covers a page and a half and includes a short synopsis of his life. The unnamed men section includes a basic listing of men such as the Good Samaritan, the rich man, the creditor, the centurion, etc. For those who might desire an examination of the men of the Bible, the ability to quickly be reminded of who Abimelech was, or to quickly get a handle on a Biblical literary reference this is a recommended reference book. |
