| My own experience with this Bible study was a memorable and rich one. It facilitated much insightful and beneficial discussion in our study group. As with all Kathleen Nielson's Bible studies, I felt that I had a much better grasp of I and II Thessalonians at the conclusion of this study. Kathleen Nielson's studies look deceptively simple. In actuality, equipped with a doctorate in English, she masterfully guides the Bible student through each of her studies providing valuable tools not only for immediate study of the particular books but also for further deeper study of them. Her studies contain theological insights, grammatical background, cross-references and other helpful aids which are useful to a broad range of Bible students from the novice to the seasoned. Her studies are versatile enough for multiple levels of Bible study. Wisely, she does not provide a leader's guide but does provide helpful guidelines to assist the Bible student in working through her studies. Personally, I am impressed by her admonition to keep "returning to the Bible" for clarification on any given question, thus encouraging the student to study in light of the "whole counsel of God." Unlike some other studies which tend to "lead the student by the hand," Dr. Nielson's definitely do not! This book has potential to be good, and our group has had good discussion from it, but it seems more like a first draft than a final, published book. We have found some type-os, which is a little surprising. Also, her sentance structure is often confusing, which leaves us asking "what does she mean" or "what is she asking us"? But God's word is able to speak to us even if our human words aren't perfect.
I like the spiral binding! And I like that it isn't a fill in the blank, right or wrong answer kind of study. It leave it open for deeper discussion and for the HS to move. | | | Write your own review about 1 & 2 Thessalonians (Living Word Bible Studies)
