| Great book! Nov 19, 2008 |
This book is great to read just to lift spirits and help see that you are not alone for your quest for spiritual growth. If you want a deeper study there is a bible reading list and bible study guide in the back of the book along with a leader's guide for small groups. In other words this book can be as light or as deep as you want it to be. Jen is a hilarious writer with tremendous talent and I highly recommend her book, I have been in one study on this book and led two others. |

| Excellent How To Nov 17, 2008 |
Devoured this book in just a couple days. It was exactly as I was hoping for - providing practical methods/systems for bible study. Loved the humor & honesty & style of writing. Feel this is a great reference for when I actually get started. I would recommend this book to everyone! Hope to meet Jen Hatmaker someday in fact just to compliment her on such a fabulous book! |

| Not as modern as I would have liked Aug 31, 2008 |
I like the effort, but the author was still a bit preachy. I'll do my own Bible reading without her help, thank you very much. |

| Don't know where to start with regular devotions? Start here! Aug 21, 2008 |
This book really provides a simple and non-overwhelming way to approach studying the Bible. It provides you with different techniques on how to get a lot out of reading scripture. The author recognizes that not everyone absorbs information the same way, but encourages everyone to try all the different techniques. The reading is light and not heavy, and it compells you to pick up your Bible and read with a "can do" attitude. I appreciated this book a lot, in fact it is what caused me to start journaling again (a suggestion from the book) which is a great accountablity in and of itself. How obvious is it that you haven't done devotions than to go back to your journal and see the last entry was several weeks prior!? It creates an accountability in and of itself. |

| Wonderful! Jul 21, 2008 |
I am taking my time reading this one--and using a highlighter! I have notes in the margin and am going back and re-reading pages at a time. I am blown away by her honesty and humor. And I can relate to all of the things she talks about (who hasn't done the old let the Bible fall open and stick your finger on the page with your eyes closed?!?!?!). A definite must for anyone who is confused about how to study the Bible!! |
